The world’s highest quality designs are not only American made— they’re manufactured in Downtown Los Angeles
Thirty years ago, 90 percent of all clothing worn in the United States was entirely American made. By 2008 that number dropped dramatically to 10 percent as clothing brands, companies and large corporations found that it was more lucrative to outsource manufacturing overseas. Here, dangerous working conditions are the norm, as are, in many cases, the violation of human rights. Ultimately, quality and decency have been sacrificed so that profit margins can be increased.
It is for these reasons and many more that outsourcing is not an option for RYAN ROBERTS.
We take great pride in the fact that our entire manufacturing process is based in Downtown Los Angeles. Our tailors, sewers and finishers are all within five blocks from our studio. The relationships we have built with these teams are invaluable.
As a premier design house of luxury minimalist fashions, superb craftsmanship is paramount to everything we do. And we have discovered that DTLA has indeed the industry’s finest garment makers.
Having our luxury minimalist fashions created in DTLA also means we don’t spend months waiting for shipments to arrive. With our minimum orders and easy communication with our neighboring manufacturers, we’re able to cut lead times in half. What’s more, we’ve eliminated the burden of overseas shipping and customs. In fact, we pick up our orders in person—and walk them over to our studio.
Working and manufacturing in DTLA also allows us to incorporate a sustainable approach to design. Instead of generating hundreds of pieces, we focus on a select few pieces. This in turn means that every design is curated for the customer. These manageable minimum orders permit us to closely inspect each garment, ensuring they’re free of fabric flaws and meet our high level of standards. Additionally, our small-scale production significantly reduces the risk of wasted goods and energy.
It is our sincerest hope that our efforts will inspire more clothing brands to manufacture in America, thereby reestablishing a proud history of first-rate quality and excellence.
